This series on the Passover Haggadah features in-depth study of the actual ancient text, its formal instructional accompaniment and the commentary authored by the Rebbe. We invariably draw on a wide range of classic and contemporary teachings.

Our current focus is on “Matzah,” section eight of the fifteen parts that comprise the Pesach Seder’s Order.
Episode #43 “BREAKING BREAD — Part II” continues our analysis of how we recite our blessings over the special non-leavened version of bread we use on Passover.
In Part I we opened our focus on Halachik etiquette that governs the Seder Bread Raising that precedes the formal Blessing Recitations. All of which, of course, precedes the Mitzvah mandate of eating the Matzah on our Seder Night.
Previously our scholarly analysis zeroed in on the proper Holding Pattern for the 3 Seder Plate Matzot. Now we’ll continue where we left off, focusing on the Blessings recited prior to Breaking (and eventual eating) of the Matzah.
Once again, we will be introduced to a dazzling array of sources and disparate schools of Halachik thought, along with a creative methodology allowing us to satisfy all of the different opinions.
A unique system of sourcing will putatively provide us with the reasoning for the resolution reached, as well as give us a grasp of the interplay between the specific requirements of Matzah on Pesach vs the Challah Bread eaten at other formal Yom Tov repasts honouring the Chagim (Biblical Festivals).
This is the 43rd Episode in our ongoing study series on the Haggadah (formal Handbook) used at the Passover Seder.
