🕊️ Cups of Redemption
Parshat Va’eira | Anticipation — Episode 98
Why does the Torah describe redemption through four distinct expressions — and why are those expressions echoed in the four cups of wine at the Pesach Seder?
In this episode of the Anticipation series, we examine the four classic terms of redemption in Parshat Va’eira and uncover how they form a deliberate, staged process of Geulah. Far from poetic repetition, these expressions outline the unfolding of liberation — spiritual, historical, and ultimately cosmic.
Drawing on the Talmud and Midrash as illuminated by the classical commentaries and progressing through a range of authoritative Torah sources that culminate in Chassidic teaching, we discover that the four cups of the Seder are far more than commemorations of the Exodus. They are rehearsals for redemption itself — past, present, and future.
Each redemptive expression represents a distinct movement in the journey from bondage to freedom, culminating in the final Geulah with Moshiach.
From Egypt to the end of exile, redemption is poured in measured stages. By gaining clarity in this process, we are not only able – but empowered – to actively anticipate and participate in its completion.
This segment is sponsored by Betty Fluss, Jessica Fox and Amy Galperin to commemorate the Yahrtzeit of their husband and father Dovid Ben Shaul OBM.
🎯 Episode 98 continues Anticipation — a 120-part journey into the Twelfth Principle of Torah-true Judaism: believing in and actively anticipating the coming of Moshiach.
