Tractate Sanhedrin, Page 95a “TIMESPACE”

In the previous Episode, Avishai, Leader of King David’s Royal Armed Forces experiences a miraculous acceleration of Time and Space as he races against the clock to save the monumental monarch’s life.

Having just narrowly escaped a terrorist’s attempt on his life; King David is now being held as a hostage in in Gaza under life-threatening conditions. Thanks to the miraculous travel mode he saves the King’s life, without another moment to be spared!

In this brand-new Episode “TIMESPACE” we zoom out to a Wide-Lense View of historic land contractions that shorten journeys — and as it turns out, in the biblical narrative, there are no less than three such accounts.

The story of Avishai ben Tzeruiah’s royal rescue is preceded by something experienced by Eliezer, storied servant of Avraham, and a fateful event in the lonely journey of the Patriarch Jacob, Yaakov Avinu himself!

The Sages seem to view this as a trilogy of orchestrated happenings, rather than a happenstance of unrelated narratives.

To better appreciate the fullness of these extraordinary events, we will first delve into details — and only later return to identify overarching theological implications and the unifying common messaging they broadcast!

From encountering places to scheduling shifts in sunset and sunrise, Yaakov emerges as the central figure in the Talmudic analysis, and resolution. Yet rather than overshadow the other actors — he illuminates their presence and participation!

Although in some ways a continuation of the previous Episodes, this incredibly insightful class is also very much stand-alone as well. It joins the growing collection of segments on the tenth chapter of Tractate Sanhedrin; Perek Chelek.
