The sixth episode of the Flour Power series is aptly entitled: “The Moment That Locks It In.” Here we gain greater clarity about what actually triggers tithing obligation in halacha, as articulated in the continuation of the sugya on Daf 66b.

Highlighting the paradigm-shifting elements of grain production — from stacking, to smoothing, to expressions of true ownership — we illuminate the hidden line between obligation and exemption.

The Sages debate and ultimately determine when produce is truly considered “finished,” and who is able to define its status — forever.

This episode explores the halachic weight of miru’ach, tracing how Divine Domain, gentile ownership, and the complex status of the Samaritans challenge our assumptions about tithing.

Ultimately, the question becomes: is obligation defined by the object itself — or by the moment and jurisdiction under which it crosses an invisible line?

Identifying this dynamic of transformation also helps us appreciate the inner avodah of Sefirat HaOmer: a step-by-step refinement, moving from Pesach toward Shavuot — Z’man Matan Torateinu.

As we continue building this series layer by layer, we deepen both our understanding of the Omer — and our experience of the count itself.
