Jumping to his feet, he gives his solemn word: “this is the last night you will be single.” Then, resisting powerful temptation, our hero remains celibate as they wait out the long, dark night together. Ultimately, this vigil serves as a metaphor for our nation’s dark and lengthy exiles.
